Audiences

Overview

Target App Content and Create a Personalized Workplace Experience

“Audiences” refers to a group of users that share a common set of characteristics. The functionality allows HqO Admin users to target who is allowed to view the content within the app/tenant web and who receives certain push notifications - creating a personalized app experience for end-users. Within HqO Admin, you are able to segment users based on the following types: Building, Companies, Users, and Roles. Please see below for an in-depth breakdown of all Audience types.

Admin User Experience:

  • Select “create” from the Audiences screen

  • Create different audiences which can consist of:

    • A building or multiple building(s)

    • A company or multiple companies within a building

    • Individual users within a building

Available Functionality:

Assign audiences to content and notifications to target most relevant users and improve engagement

Creating an Audience

Step 1: To start managing audiences, navigate to the relevant landlord/building/company in HqO Admin

Step 2: Hover over the 'Communication’ icon and select ‘Audiences’

Step 3: As default, your audience list will include an audience for each building you are attached to. The building audience is the default audience when creating content.

Step 4: Click ‘Create’

Step 5: Enter a name and description for your audience. This will help you to easily identify the correct audience for an ongoing basis

Step 6: Select which characteristic you would like to create the audience based on

Step 7: Assign the relevant building(s) / company(s) / user(s) / role(s) to this audience

Step 8: Click ‘Create' on the top right

Step 9: You can now search for this audience name when creating a piece of content or push notification

Audience Types

Building

To select “Buildings” under audience type means that you will be grouping all users that are registered under a particular building (or group of buildings).

Companies

To select “Companies” under audience type means that you will be grouping all users who are associated with a registered company in HqO Admin. Please note: users are automatically added to particular companies based on the approval email domain they use when signing into the application.

User

To select “Users” under audience type enables you to create a group of users (regardless of company/building) by searching their name. When you begin to type in a user’s name in the search bar, you will see a dropdown of all users with that name with their associated company listed next to their name in parenthesis.

Applying Audiences

  • Content

    • A user can assign an audience to content on the homepage of the app including: Events, Posts, and Deals

    • When creating a new piece of content, you will apply the audience within the “Target” page. Simply type in the audience name and a dropdown will display for you to select the audience you would like to utilize.

  • Push Notifications

    • You have the ability to apply an audience to any notifications - created either through a piece of content or through the Notifications page under the Communication module.

    • By adding an audience to a notification, you will have the autonomy to decide who the notification is sent to.

Default Audiences

Enables content and notification creators to directly target ‘Primary Building’ users, ensuring notifications are relevant and effectively reach the intended audience

Overview

The default audience for Content and Notification is currently set to Building - All Users Audience. However, some customers assign users to more than one building and would prefer for notifications to only be sent to users who have a building as their primary.

If you set the default audience for Content to Building - All Users Audience and the default audience for Notifications to Primary Building Users Audience, then:

  • User would not need to make any manual adjustments to audiences on content or notifications for most use cases

  • It reduces the likelihood of an admin user accidentally sending a notification to all users

Key Features

  • Ability to configure a building to have the default audience for Content be either:

    • Building - All Users Audience

    • Primary Building Audience

  • Ability to configure a building to have the default audience for Notifications be either:

    • Building - All Users Audience

    • Primary Building Audience

HqO Admin Experience

  • On building set up in the Audience settings section, the Default content audience and Default notification audience can be configured

  • Update the default notification audience to “Primary building audience”

  • Click “Save”

  • Navigate to create content form

Setting the default audience for Content to be Building - All Users Audience while setting the default audience for Notifications to be either Primary Building Users Audience allows for the use case of all users being able to see the content but only users who have that building as their primary to receive the notification so it is sent to the most relevant audience.
