App Icon Branding Guidelines
This guide covers the required specifications, best practices, and previewing methods for updating your app’s branding.
Required App Icon Files
To update your app icons, please provide HqO with the following:
iOS App Icon: 1024 × 1024 px, PNG format (no transparency)
Android App Icon: 512 × 512 px, PNG format (32-bit, sRGB), max file size 1 MB
Best Practices for Android App Icons
Size & Format: 512 × 512 px, PNG (32-bit, sRGB), max file size 1 MB
Leave Styling to Google Play: Do not add rounded corners or shadows—these are applied automatically by Google Play.
Use a Full Square Image: Submit a clean square image. Google Play will mask it into a uniform shape (~20% corner radius).
Design Within Keylines: Use the provided grid to center your artwork. The design does not need to fill the entire square.
Keep It Simple: Favor bold, minimal designs with a clear focal element. Avoid clutter or unnecessary detail.
Best Practices for iOS App Icons
Size & Format: 1024 × 1024 px, PNG format, no transparency. Apple automatically generates all smaller sizes.
No Extra Effects: Do not add rounded corners, shadows, or gloss—Apple applies these automatically.
Simplicity: Bold, minimal designs with a clear focal element work best.
Background: Use a solid, opaque background. Avoid photos, gradients, or cluttered designs.
Text Usage: Only include text if it is an essential part of your logo or brand identity (small text will not be legible).

Before submitting final assets, we recommend previewing your design using MakeAppIcon.
